2011 has been a challenging but exciting year for the practice and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Australian First Surgery

Dr Richard Kahler performed the first Australian spinal surgery using the Nico Myriad in November.

The successful use of this device was used to remove a spinal tumour that was causing pressure on the spinal cord and leading to quadraplegia.  The tumour was safely removed through narrow access channels and protected the spinal cord.

Latest Medical Student

In December we welcomed first year medical student, Nick Candy, from James Cook University in Townsville, who spent two weeks with BrizBrain & Spine on work placement.

The importance of providing practical experience in many aspects of Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery, observing patients and surgeries and understanding the workings of a practice, are valuable experiences for students entering the field.

Christmas Opening Hours

BrizBrain and Spine will be closed on the public holidays over the Christmas and New Year period, however we will have a Doctor on call at all times.
